WARNING: I don't have anything on this piece of crap computer to allow me to shrink this down, so to full-view this is probably a mistake. It's really, really, really big. Once I get my other computer set up, I'll go back and fix it and all the others like it. Sorry~!

Also to note: I hate this scanner and the feeling's mutual. I also hate scanning out of sketchbooks, as I always have a problem with those damn shadows where the paper pulls up. -.-; Any suggestions to help with that other than to remove the page from the book? >.<;

Now, onto the picture. I began a comic idea about four years ago now(7/24/02, to be exact) when I drew this character. Ana was the first original character for it. Now that I'm actually plotting out the overall storyline(and finally writing it down), I figured I'd give the characters their(pretty much) final makeover. Kira is a character that's been in use in my stories(almost all unwritten, though still floating around for the most part) since I was, oh, around three and survived all my various and sundry projects. She got her(final) naming when I was twelve or so. Overall her character design's been pretty much static for six or seven years now. Here is the original comic-version design for her. So, for her also, the only thing that's really changed is that my art's gotten better.

Now, for the picture. Either DA or IE or that damn Yahoo Toolbar(one of the three) managed to screw up my window twice before I got to submit and I lost my first two critiques, so I'll try to remember again(and this time copy before I submit, damnit). Overall I'd have to say that I'm very, very happy with this one. I screwed up her arms; her wrists are a bit too thin and her right one is way too long, and her right hand looks a wee small and awkward. Of course I didn't notice this until I drew most of it in dark. ;p I love the odd sense of style I get to play around with on Kira. ^-^ Though the folds on the bottoms of her pantlegs and the protrusion of her belt and skirt are simple and small, they make me happy. They mark the fact that I'm finally getting the hang of this crap. ;p Also, the curves of the muscles versus the pretty much stick straight limbs I used to draw is heartening. The picture actually seems to have a bit of weight to it(noticible mostly in the hair and chest), whereas everything used to look like it weighed nothing and was just kind of there. Her face actually looks like it's supposed to now, which is another cause for my joy. <3 For the "Final Version" series I'm doing, I'm going to be adding a chibi-esque version of wings for all the characters that start out with some form of wings. Kira's a fairy, so...yeah, self-explanatory. Her pointy ears won't be making an appearance for the majority of the comic(sadness) since her and the rest of the cast will be living in a human city on modern-day Earth, so...yeah. So, um, yes, luff for this one. ^---^

Materials: Sketchpad and No.2 mechanical pencil.

The face and hair are great! The one thing that I noticed, critique-wise, is that her hands are too small... the general rule is that your hand is about the size of your face when all the fingers are opened, unless of course there's funky perspective or something...
:iconkira-chan:
Yeah, I know that. I just hadn't drawn the definition of the fingers until after most everything around them(the hands were still sketchy circles). That's my one real unhappiness with it. ;.; ._.;
:iconswiftgold:
Yeah, they can be such a pain. I hate feet the most, though, especially bare ones. Can never get those to look right at all...
:iconkira-chan:
I think I've only managed that once or twice, the bare feet thing. Though, I probably wouldn't think so now(though I did at the time ;p). That's why most of my characters either wear boots or have baggy pants. ;p
:iconswiftgold:
Yeah, boots are great! Of course, I like to wear them a lot too, so... heh.
