Yeah, so, I was bored. This is the first piece I've done as an independent piece and finished as of late. It was supposed to be one of my characters Caleb, but then the hair got wonky and the rest of him ended up like this. So, he's a random magician who, by the looks of him, would be welcome amongst Caleb's friends but is not currently on the character roster. ;;
Anyway, I really rather like this picture. It's of a male, and it's actually GOOD. I love tophats. ^___^ *giggles* The magician's cane/wand has a little line on it right above his hand, where it's supposed to split into a sword. >.> Yes, I know I'm weird. He might be a little proportionately skinny where the bottom of his ribcage and his waist are. Ah well; he's still adorable. I like the fire-magic-thingy, and his hands actually turned out better than usual. Then I went and added the rings I wanted to give him. -.-; Now it looks like his right middle and pinky fingers are cut off or something. I like his expression; I'm still not used to being able to actually draw expressions as I see them in my head. This is vaguely new to me. I used to suck at expressions. I tried to tone down how many folds I added this time, 'cause I think I was getting a little too fold-happy, now that I'm okay at drawing them. I also added - gasp! - shading. I haven't shaded in awhile. Before I quit drawing all the time about two years ago, I was actually kinda good at it. Since I'm going to be drawing a lot in the future(I'm doing the art for a comic my fiancee is writing, and then there's possibly my comic), I figured I better start re-teaching myself a lot of the skill I lost. And improving, that's always good.
I was trying for a more drastic shading difference in the text, but it didn't work. I was going to have the letters really light on the inside, and really dark towards the edges. But then I got to smudgin' it and it didn't wanna work like that. So...yeah. Still looks okay, I guess. Another thing, my scanner decided his shirt needed to be bleached. Argh. --; And I left his pants with the texture because they're supposed to look like black jean.
